GREENVILLE, N.C. – Pitt County will welcome home one of its own on Saturday, September 12, 2026, as Rico Hines, assistant coach of the Philadelphia 76ers and a D.H. Conley Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, hosts the third annual “Know Your Big Picture” Youth Basketball Clinic at South Central High School from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Open to boys and girls ages 6 to 18, the clinic gives young athletes a rare chance to train under one of the NBA’s most respected player development coaches. The session is built around skill work, teamwork, and basketball IQ, taught by a coach whose offseason runs draw some of the best players in the league. Since the clinic began in 2024, 200 young athletes from across eastern North Carolina have taken part.

Who Can Register: Boys and girls, ages 6–18
Proceeds from the clinic support Horizons of Pitt County, which runs a tuition-free, six-week summer program for rising K–8 students at Lakeforest Elementary, pairing classroom academics with swimming, STEM, art, field trips, and shared meals.
“Basketball is the game that brought us together, but this clinic has always been about something bigger,” said Hines. “Your talent may open doors, but your character, discipline, and the way you treat people will determine how long those doors stay open. Always know your big picture.”

Rico Hines has built a reputation as one of the premier player development minds in basketball. A Greenville native and D.H. Conley graduate, he played college basketball at UCLA before beginning a coaching career that now spans two decades in the NBA and the college ranks, with stops at the Golden State Warriors, St. John’s University, the Sacramento Kings, and the Toronto Raptors. He has served as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers since 2023 and is widely known for his offseason development runs, which draw elite talent from across the league.
